CSED Agent-Based Modeling

CSED is one of the world pioneers in modeling social dynamics. In gauging the scale of a bioterror threat, and in designing an effective policy response, it is crucial to have epidemic models depicting the spatial spread of the disease in a relevant setting. Without the use of explicit models, there is no systematic way to gauge uncertainty or to evaluate competing intervention strategies.

Smallpox Model
Building on previous work, CSED has developed an individual-based computational modeling environment for the study of epidemic dynamics in general, using Smallpox data. This can be applied to an indefinite variety of pathogens and social structures.

Large-Scale Agent Model
CSED has also taken epidemic dynamics modeling to the next level with its award-winning Large-Scale Agent Model, which is capable of simulating several billion agents in the event of a national infectious disease outbreak.
